Sweet Beer Bread
I love to make beer bread. It is dense, moist and simple to make. However, I recently came across a recipe to make a sweet beer bread and decided to make a few tweaks and give it a try.
- 3 cups flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 beer (12 oz) you can also use a cream soda
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 2 TBL Fresco Vanilla Apple Pie Spice
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Sift together the flour, baking powder and sugar. Add 1 tablespoon of the Fresco Vanilla Apple Pie spice to the dry ingredients. Pour in the beer and stir until the dough is formed. Mix in butterscotch chips. Pour the dough into a well greased loaf pan. Pour the melted butter over top and sprinkle with the remaining tablespoon of Fresco Vanilla Apple Pie spice. Bake for one hour in a preheated 375 degree oven.
It is a delicious sweet bread and we will be making this one again in the very near future.
You can make this recipe as a normal beer bread by omitting 1/4 cup of sugar, the butterscotch chips and substituting a savoring Fresco Spice Blend for the Vanilla Apple Pie Spice blend. Try using Penny's Italian or Garlic.
